Friday started off as a ripper for NZ music!
NZ Music Month has been a helluva time to celebrate and give our local talent the kudos they deserve. This morning was one to shout our praises to the roof tops.
Here are five massive tunes that dropped today featuring our mates in the NZ electronic music scene.
Firstly, the legends Lee Mvtthews finally released their absolute belter of a tune ‘Surround Me (ft Cammie Robinson)’.
The boys cued up this number in their Let It Roll set last year and it’s fair to say we are over the moon with it now being out.
Old mate 33 Below is next up with his naughty garage track ‘MASH UP’.
This one was a long awaited dub from the Kiwi producer doing big things overseas at the moment.
George FM's own Saturday morning host Dick Johnson released the first single off his forthcoming album, working with The Peacekeepers aka P Digsss, Sambora & Nicky Research from Shapeshifter.
“It was a proper honour to collab with these 2 kiwi legends and this song came together so naturally, “written in a fish n shop while playing Pac-Man”, Johnson shared in an Instagram post.
Another friend of George has been busy in the studio; Brigsy with ‘Drop It Again’.
I reckon we need to get this bad boy up on the Does it Double wheel ASAP.
If you like NZG you need to check out The Lickshot EP from Reasxn.
Blessing the ears with his “stripped back minimal sounds of UK Garage” - Reasxn gives you something to help get your steps in.
We’re only really scratching the surface of the depth of talent that has been rolling around this NZ Music month but holllyyyy what a sight to wake up to this morning!
