WATCH: Steven Adams takes hilarious f-bomb jab at Aussie reporter

“It’s Australia. Had to.”

Kiwi NBA star Steven Adams is notorious for his post-game press conference highlights. He brings a distinguished NZ taste that people love. (But maybe not the Aussie reporter that copped it from him in his latest.)

Adams, a current Houston Rocket, was a big part of their win against the Golden State Warriors (GSW) on Saturday, where their win forced the series to go to a deciding game 7.

In a 115-107 win, Adams contributed 17 points, three blocks and five rebounds in 31 minutes.

His on-court performance, though, was not the highlight of the day.

In his post game presser, he hears a reporter with an Aussie accent and immediately tells him to “f*ck off.”

He immediately covered his mouth in shock, then cracked up and topped it off with “It’s Australia. Had to.”

This is a great example of the great Kiwi vs Aus battle, and the comments agreed.

“Only Aussies and Kiwis can treat each other this way,” one user commented.

“He genuinely couldn’t help it,” said another.

As an Aussie, I would be offended if he didn’t say it.

Despite being a hilarious guy, there was also plenty of passion, intelligence and selflessness displayed in the rest of the press conference.

Adams has had one heck of a series against GSW.

To put it into perspective, the Rockets are plus-53 when Adams is on the floor, and are minus-38 in the minutes he’s been on the bench.

I’m sure we can all agree it makes us proud to see old Stevo repping our wee country on the world stage.

Game 7 takes place today at 12.30pm. The winner will progress to the Western Conference Semi-Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Fingers crossed for our boy Stevo!
