Penrith Panthers' Mitchell Kenny shares screenshot of vicious messages from fan

His response was all class.

Penrith Panthers’ hooker Mitchell Kenny has copped some brutal backlash after Saturday night’s 30-30 draw against the Cowboys.

Kenny took to Instagram to share the screenshot, captioning with: “These things happen aye! Have a good weekend everyone.”

“F*cking useless, you’ve f*cking cost me a trillion dollars because your a f*cking hog,” the Instagram user said.

“Imagine having the greatest ever player (Nathan Cleary) and not using him so the most f*cking mid **** on the planet can scoot on the last play of the game instead of kicking a field goal,” they continued.

They even threw a question in there: “What could have possibly been going through your f*cking thick head?”

Moron. F*ck you.”

Kenny, with all class, responded: “Send us your bank details, I’ll send you the trillion sorry legend.”

The angry outburst was in reference to a critical moment late in the game.

With 20 seconds remaining, Kenny opted to run the ball from the dummy-half instead of passing to team-mate Nathan Cleary, who was in range for a match-winning field goal.

But hey, he’s only human!

It’s been a long season for Penrith fans, as the team sits 16th on the ladder, a far cry from the glory days of four consecutive championships since 2021.

To add fuel to the fire, the game was highly controversial itself. Footage showed the Panthers trainer wetting the ball before the opening period of golden point.

Outrage has run rampant on the Internet about this game in more ways than one.

As sad as it sounds, social media abuse for NRL stars seems to be a norm.

Since retired-Rooster Josh Morris got his life threatened on Instagram back in 2021 after a 40-6 loss.

Morris got the last laugh when he got the punter banned from betting platforms. Good move.

NZ’s very own beloved Shaun Johnson shared familiar struggles with online abuse.

The ex-warriors halfback would quite often get people saying things like “better turn these comments off” or “Shaun Shortball Johnson”.

Bottom line - it costs nothing to be kind.
