Between releasing his brand new album ‘Gems’ and preparing for a Las Vegas residency, Josh Groban has taken a moment to reveal what he really thinks of New Zealand.
The Breeze’s Mike Puru caught up with the American singer-songwriter who says that he “loves going to New Zealand”.
“Everytime I’m in New Zealand, I first of all have incredible food,” Josh declared.
“I [also] am going to have as [an] exciting adrenaline fueled time on stage as I do off stage.”
“I always have stories to tell when I come back,” he added.
Elaborating on ‘adrenaline fueled’, Josh told Mike about three times he has been to “very adventurous” New Zealand.
“The first time I toured in New Zealand, my record label said ‘what time’s your flight tomorrow?’, I said ‘7:00am’, they said ‘you want to go 5:00am barefoot waterskiing?’,” he laughed.
“I said ‘what are you serious?’,” he continued, “they were actually disappointed that I didn’t want to do that before I went to the airport.”
The next time Josh came to New Zealand, he says he was asked to go out into the countryside to tip over cows.
“Then the third time it was, ‘hey do you want to clip yourself onto a bungee and jump off the sky tower?’”
“Let me tell you, I go from baritone to soprano real fast when I jump off that thing.”
“I get heart palpitations looking at that skyline.” “[But] I lived to tell the tale,” Josh laughed.
Living up to our good name, Josh also said that Kiwis are the “kindest, most amazing” people.
I think it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing a lot more of Josh Groban in New Zealand.
“I’ll bring my adventure pack,” he said, “and I hope to see you [Mike] when I arrive.”
