A Gold Coast tradie is being hailed as a ‘hero’ after saving a brothel in Molendinar from going up in flames.
The chaos kicked off when a disgruntled ex-worker set alight a bedsheet in a wheelie bin full of condoms, then casually strolled away. She has since been accused of an arson attack.
What started as a bit of smoke quickly turned into full-blown flames, dangerously close to a gas tank. Things could’ve gone sideways fast, but the universe had other plans.
Aaron Webster happened to be fixing the gate next door, when he caught a whiff of something off. He rushed over to the building, spotted the fire and put it out with a fire extinguisher.
The fire was contained to the bin, thanks to his quick thinking.
He acted so bloody quickly he beat the fire brigade to their own job.
“All the girls were in a bit of a panic,” said brothel manager Suzanne Pfeifer. “We had a client in a room who had to come down… He got in his car and left really quick.” (Fair enough.)
Despite single-handedly saving the place, the tradie shrugged it off with a humble “it’s only a little fire.”
In a cheeky gesture of thanks, the organisation offered him a gift certificate for saving the day. His response was: “What am I gonna do with that?”
I’m gonna give it to someone for Christmas.
Well the old saying stands true: Not all heroes wear capes. Some just have a fire extinguisher.
