On Monday, The Breeze announced we'll be sending two lucky listeners to two incredible shows, live in Las Vegas!
With Rod Stewart at Caesar's Palace and Coldplay at Allegiant Stadium, these epic back-to-back nights of concerts will be unmissable.
Plus, the winners will also score five nights accommodation at Caesar's Palace, flights for two and $2500 NZD spending money to enjoy all Vegas has to offer.
Off the back of this exciting news, our resident Vegas expert Robert Rakete shared some pearls of wisdom for anyone hoping to be on a plane to Vegas very soon.
“I’ve been lucky enough to go to Vegas a few times for work, and also where I perform my magic show,” Robert joked.
“But right now I would like to share with you, because of my experience in Vegas, three things NOT to do.”
ROBERT RAKETE’S 3 THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO IN VEGAS
Don’t accept any cards people try to hand you
“They are little adverts for people… lonely people, who may be looking for company while in Vegas,” Robert explains.
“I mean, if you want to accept one, that’s fine,” he laughed, "but just beware of what they are".
2. If you find yourself in The Luxor Hotel at night, don’t rush up to the glass to look at the lights
The Luxor Hotel is popularly known as being a giant glass pyramid, meaning all the windows are slanted.
“Don’t rush up to the glass to look at the lights,” he said, “I almost knocked myself out and I really wish that were a joke.”
3. Don’t run into the desert
Vegas is a glitzy, fun city full of light and entertainment. It's also right in the middle of a desert.
“I’d never seen the desert before,” Robert explained.
“I pulled over, I ran into the desert ‘cause it looks so cool [...] and my friend back at the car was yelling at me.”
“I said, ‘what are you yelling about man?’ and he pointed to a sign next to me where I stopped that said ‘WARNING: Snakes’.”
One thing Robert does recommend though, is blasting the ever-iconic ‘Viva Las Vegas’ song as you enter, it really sets the mood for a trip of a lifetime.
These do seem like oddly specific tips, but, nevertheless good to note before jetting off!
