Beloved NRL ‘pretty boy’ Reece Walsh is back in headlines - and this time, it’s not a highlight reel.
A video uploaded of the 22-year-old Broncos fullback punching his friend while wearing a boxing glove went viral, and a fall-out has begun.
In the now-deleted clip that was uploaded to Walsh’s TikTok, you could see his mate leaning over a seat while Walsh sconed him in the face.
Brisbane Broncos bosses are reportedly ‘furious’.
The club will investigate the issue, with CEO Dave Donaghy to speak directly to Walsh on his actions.
News Corp reported that “the Broncos are privately furious that Walsh acted so stupidly”.
I guess it’s not so private anymore - oops.
The likely course of action for the 22-year-old would be a fine, and probably some pretty colorful words.
Walsh acknowledged his actions by sharing the message “it was a joke with me best mate” to his Instagram story.
“No one was harmed, boys being boys”.
His mate had his back, reposting that story with the words “Everything was for a laugh and nothing more.
“We have mucked around like this our whole life.”
Walsh fronted up on Nine’s Today, echoing that he was “just having a laugh,” but understands that it is “obviously not a good look for myself.”
He continued by shifting the focus toward the new Broncos ‘Black Jerseys’.
There’s a really cool jersey coming out that we should be talking about and not letting this overshadow it
The fullback is currently sidelined after suffering a PCL in his side’s Round 7 clash with his former team, the Warriors.
The Broncos have been in the headlines enough recently, after losing five of their last six games and recently releasing NRL veteran Martin Taupau.
The former Kiwis international was released from the Broncos after liking a post where his former teammate Elijah Taylor was criticising Broncos coach Michael Maguire.
Will this squad bounce back soon, or are they spiraling?
