The Met Gala is officially back for 2025, and we’re SAT and ready to watch all the stunning looks, bold choices, and potentially awkward celeb interview moments.
It’s the crème de la crème of the celeb fashion world, so there’ll be plenty to “ooh and ahh” over.
If you're keen to tune in from New Zealand, here's how you can do it:
When is the MET Gala 2025?
The Met always lands on the first Monday of May – that’s May 5 in the US, which means for us Kiwis, it kicks off from 10am Tuesday, May 6.
Perfect timing for a cheeky mid-morning work scroll - but don’t tell the boss I said that!
Where can I watch the MET red carpet?
The red carpet live stream is live NOW on Vogue’s YouTube channel. This year, the stream is hosted by Ego Nwodim and La La Anthony, and from what I’ve already seen, they’re ready to dish on all the glam.
What is this year's MET Gala theme?
This year’s dress code is ‘Tailored for You’ - it’s tying into the ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ exhibition at the Costume Institute.
It’s inspired by the 2009 book ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’, written by Monica L. Miller.
We're already seeing slick suits, pin stripes, pearls and super structured ‘fits.

It’s a big moment too – it’s the first time since 2003’s ‘Men in Skirts’ that the Met’s focused solely on menswear.
Fashion icons like Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams are co-chairing the event, with LeBron James stepping in as honorary chair.
Given Rocky’s co-chair status this year, there’s a GOOD chance Rihanna will make an iconic Met Gala comeback after skipping out on the event last year.
Ohhhh, it’s gonna be a good one! I’m so ready to pretend I’m working while obsessively scrolling through every single look.
