Our neighbours across the ditch have decided who they reckon the most attractive tradies are - and it’s good news if you’re a sparkie.
A new survey, which was recently conducted by hipages Group, endeavored to find out what tradies are considered the most desirable by Australians.
According to the research, electricians have come out on top with the title of the ‘most romantic’ people among the trades.
Landscapers were close behind, scoring 32.8 per cent of the vote, while builders and carpenters shared third place.
Here’s how the top ‘most romantic’ contenders ranked:
Electricians - 36%
Landscapers - 32.8%
Builders - 26.3%
Carpenters - 26.3%
But it’s not just about who brings the flowers. While builders didn’t come first in the romance department, they did come out on top for attractiveness. According to those who were surveyed, people who “know how to swing a hammer” are the best-lookers on the job site.
The survey also sought to find out people’s tradie-picking preferences. The research found that sometimes trying to find the right tradie is similar to the dating world - it can be confusing, sometimes overwhelming, and can be full of hit-or-miss experiences.
Half of respondents admitted they’ve struggled to find the right person for the job. As a result, 19% of respondents said they decided to go down the DIY route.

A couple months ago, some research was done around who Australians reckon the least trustworthy tradies are, and ironically, sparkies were on that list.
